It was another busy weekend for G7 Athletics!  Coach Javi Guzman and Coach Veronica Garza successfully competed Saturday in Austin at the OlyAthlete Open, held at CrossFit Austin.  The event was a hybrid competition consisting of an Olympic Weightlifting component as well as a CrossFit workout. 

Competitors tested their weightlifting skills on the Snatch and Clean & Jerk against USAW rules and judging, including an official weigh-in and technical rules.  The CrossFit component of the competition consisted of an AMRAP workout of 5 Thrusters (135lb men/95lb women), 10 Burpees, and 20 Double Unders.

Veronica Garza received the title of OlyAthlete Weightlifting Champion for her 115kg total in the weightlifting portion of the competition.  Javier and Veronica also took home the title of OlyAthlete Team Champions, with the help of teammates and friends Vic Zachary (Bayou City CrossFit), Katie Russell (Bayou Cit CrossFit), and Blake Johnson (CrossFit Austin). 

Congratulations to Vic Zachary (OlyAthlete CrossFit Champion), Katie Russell (OlyAthlete CrossFit Champion and Overall Champion), Dutch Lowy (OlyAthlete Overall Champion), and Spencer Arnold (OlyAthlete Weightlifting Champion) for their incredible performances and to all those who participated in Saturday's event.
