A while back, I heard about this new workout program called Crossfit from my brother Rob, while having dinner at a local restaurant. Rob lives in Sugarland, Texas and he was in town for a visit. I was pregnant at the time, so I paid more attention to my food than the details of the conversation, but I remember him saying that he was really getting into it and seeing results. A year or so later, I learned that my brother Mike had begun doing the workout and that he was having fun doing the workout and seeing real results. I was nowhere near ready to start any kind of exercise program as I had just delivered my third baby and was religiously breastfeeding.

This Spring, I decided I needed to take control of my body again (3 kids had definitely taken a toll) and I began walking 4-5 times per week. Initially, I walked 1 mile and then gradually increased to 3. I lost about 10 pounds and thought I was in pretty good shape. I was wrong!!! By this time, both my brothers and my sister, Becky had become certified trainers and I decided that it would be a great family activity to workout with them. My daughters and husband began Crossfitting as well. I remember my first workout. It didn’t look difficult when others did it, but I was ready to drop dead afterward…in a good way of course. I didn’t realize how out-of-shape I was.

It’s been a month and a half and to be honest, I feel like a different person. Never in my life could I run even a block. Now I find myself jogging a mile with little difficulty. I have become stronger. I can now do push ups and squats with weights. My body feels tighter. In fact, people ask me everyday if I have been working out. I feel more fit overall…and I have a lot more stamina and energy. I have done aerobics classes, lifted weights and other exercise programs in the past, but none compare to Crossfit. Not only is it a great workout, but I have such a good time doing it. I encourage anyone, no matter what fitness level to try it out. You will definitely see results!!!
