Jason Garza
Jason Garza has transformed his life in just 3 short months. After watching Veronica Garza’s video and reading about her success, he wanted to know how he could attain great results himself. He then spoke with Vero and received nutrition advice, as well as plans for implementation. In just 3 months, his body has seen a total transformation. He has also found himself having higher energy levels and being much leaner. Check out the amazing before and after photos.
Susan Vidaurri
My name is Susan Vidaurri. I am 36 years old, married, and mother of four children all who range between the ages of 4 and 17. I remember about over a year ago my husband, Jesse, and I decided we were going to make a change in our lives. This was going to be a physical and health change. Well I always had thought of myself as being “somewhat” fit, so we started by walking with the kids. Then the walking got too easy so we started running 3-4 times a week. At this point I was so proud of myself that I was running about a 1 ½ miles under 30 mins. I slowly started losing a bit of weight and then all of a sudden…NO CHANGE! I guess this was my body telling me that I needed another change.
I first heard about Crossfit through my uncle. He was attending Crossfit Central in Austin, Tx. He was so excited and shared with us his new discovery of Crossfit. He mentioned how challenging, intense, and fun these workouts were. Well I was hooked and anxious to try it out. I went on the Internet and googled Crossfit in Laredo. A few websites came out and G7 seemed so family oriented that I was immediately interested. I remember that very same day visiting the facility and to my amazement it was 5 minutes away from my house. This was another sign. Long story short…Jesse and I signed up. We began the following day which was in March 2010 and continued thereafter.
I have to selfishly admit that being at G7 is the best part of my week. G7 has helped me transform myself from a size 14 down to a size 6…WOW!!! G7 has changed me physically and my lifestyle dramatically through their guidance, support, and encouragement. Everyday I feel more energized and stronger! I could actually say that I am able to roll with the big dogs in the 7:30 class!! G7 coaches and athletes are the best! Thanks G7 Family for offering such a wonderful and life CHANGING experience!!! I love you all!
Dr. Antonio Salinas “Doc”
“I’m Antonio Salinas; “Doc” to most at the gym. I joined the G7 community about a year ago. I used to run or bicycle almost every day prior to joining so I don’t know for sure if I am fitter or healthier. However I do know that G7 has made me stronger. I never lifted weights. Over the past few months the weight of my deadlifts, squats and press has increased significantly. However a better example of how G7 has made me stronger is the pull-up. I have gone from needing the widest rubber band to do one pull-up; to doing 7-8 unassisted pull-ups. I was recently able to do a couple with a weighted vest on.
Could I have accomplished this by myself or another gym, possibly, but it would not have been as much fun. The camaraderie of G7 is a large part of the motivation to do the work. I have never worked so hard for a simple “Good Job, Doc.” Merry Christmas and Happy Healthy New Year to everyone. P.S. I hope Santa brings me kipping pull-ups.”
Sheldon Gallegos
My name is Sheldon Gallegos and I have been a part of the G7 family since September of 2010. Before joining G7 I had been active in the world of Crossfitting but quickly found myself being hampered by injury because of faulty technique. While I thought I had a great concept of what Crossfit and Olympic Lifting was, it took one conversation with the head G7 coach to realize that I didn’t know squat (no pun intended).
Unfortunately in October I found myself being airlifted to San Antonio because of a subdural hematoma brought on by an accident I sustained playing flag football. Though there is no stretch or foam rolling technique that could have cured this, what G7 had to offer was more than what I could have asked for; support. The G7 family, coaches and athletes, all flooded my phone with text messages and phone calls with encouragement. Along with the phone calls and messages, I got a visit from G7 head coach, Rob, followed by the delivery of a primalized fruit basket. While I am making a full recovery, my family and I experienced the loss of my brother on December 10. Immediately after G7 was notified, all of the coaches and athletes again came to my side to support me through this; two of the coaches were kind enough to join me in the services for my brother (thank you Vero and Becky). These are great examples of what G7 is beyond the fitness; family. Since joining I have felt like I was a part of something that is bigger than the fitness they preach.
This isn’t your “normal” gym where you only know the name of the receptionist behind the desk on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays but rather where EVERYONE in the building knows your name. So while I could not get the full benefits of the G7 fitness program, I have gotten the full effects of the G7 support system. This is the part where I tell G7 to never quit being the great people they are but I wont because it isn’t in their nature to quit caring for their athletes. That being said, thank you G7 for being you.
Albert Quintanilla
Back in December 1990, while I was in the Army National Guard, my unit was activated as a part of Desert Storm. I weighed about 170 lbs and I felt I was in the best shape of my life. Fast forward 19 years and I had gained 20+ pounds and was out of shape. I had borderline high blood pressure and while my cholesterol level was not high, it was nowhere near balanced. My wife, Maricela, told me she wanted to join a gym and start working out again. I agreed with the idea, but wanted to start exercising on my own for a while so that I would not embarrass myself in a gym if I could not complete a work out. She found G7 Athletics and joined. I remember her coming home and talking about the workouts and the nutrition information they provided. I in turn started walking and said I would join in the summer time. In January, she started a Primal challenge at the gym to follow a primal diet. I told Maricela that I would support her and started following the diet as well.
Five months later, Maricela called me from the gym and asked me if I was still planning on joining the gym. At that point, after trying to follow a primal diet, I had lost 15 lbs, but was not sure I wanted to join G7 just yet. She told me if I was not ready then when would I be? So, I headed to the gym and enrolled on April Fools Day.
I remember starting the elements class and saying this is easy, I can do it, but by the end of the class, I was spent and was saying that maybe this was not for me. I figured since I paid for the month, I might as well continue. After completing the elements, I started doing the regular workouts. I remember when I started I could only do 1 unassisted pull-up and while I could do the workouts, I was not the completing them in the fastest time in the class.
Since then, I have lost about 10 more pounds, but more noticeable, I have lost inches and have had to buy smaller clothes. My blood pressure has dropped and my cholesterol has dropped some, but more importantly my good cholesterol level has gone up. I can now do 6 unassisted pull-ups and just as many sit-ups and push-ups as I did 20 years ago. I complete most workouts slower than the others in my class, and when I look around and see that I am just about old enough to be the parent of most of the others in the class, I think to myself that I am not doing too bad for a guy my age if I can almost keep up with the younger bunch.
I thank my wife for nodding me to join G7 where the coaches do a great job encouraging you as you do the work out in a family environment and they are always available to discuss nutrition and exercise.
Yesenia Calderon
My name is Yesenia Calderón, and I am 35 years old. My husband, Jose, and I are proud parents of two beautiful children, Rebecca, 10, and Antonio, 3. God has blessed me with so many wonderful gifts in life, but most importantly, He has blessed me with a family of my own. I feel He has also blessed me with another family – the G7 family. Ever since I found G7, my family and I are more active than ever before, and we are eating healthier too. G7 has given me so many things, but above all, it has given my family and me a healthy lifestyle change for life!
The last time I exercised rigorously was when I was in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A & M in College Station. It’s been 15 years since then. Of course, I’ve joined gyms and tried to exercise on a regular basis but have failed numerous times. My goal every year is the same – to exercise regularly – but I fail to be consistent within a few months. When I first joined G7 back in September of this year, I was overweight, out of shape, and felt very tired all the time. My family would constantly complain that I would sleep a lot. I did not have the energy to do simple things, like going outside to play with my kids or keeping up with them while they rode their bikes. This saddened me so much. I was very unhappy with the way I felt and needless to say, with the way I looked. Going shopping was a big disappointment because everything I liked looked horrible on me once I tried it on. Every time I would speak to a good friend of mine, she would rave about G7 and all it had to offer and insisted that I join. I was very skeptical at first because I couldn’t believe that with just 3-4 times per week for an hour each day was enough to get and stay fit. Still, I decided to give it a try. I joined G7 and signed up to go three times per week, but I did not expect to be there long. “It’s just another gym,” I thought to myself. I am the type of person that starts off very motivated when trying new tasks, but I quickly lose interest and just don’t do them anymore once I become bored. I expected to stop going within a couple of months. “At least I’ll shed a few pounds,” I told myself, but I knew I’d gain them back again within a short amount of time. I had always been stuck in a never ending cycle in which I would lose weight and then gain it back soon after. Through strict dieting or brief exercise periods, but never both, I had always been able to lose weight but had never been able to do the important thing which was to maintain a healthy weight.
It is now December, and I am still at G7. Their workouts keep me interested and motivated. Just this week I realized I have accomplished so many things in my short time there. I can run a mile, fit into clothes I haven’t been able to wear for years, and work on negatives while doing pull ups whereas before I used to just fall straight down. I have lost a total of 15 pounds and 8 inches around my problem areas, but most importantly and as I mentioned before, G7 has given my family and me a healthy lifestyle for life. Because of what I have learned at G7, I am able to make healthier choices when it comes to food. I am cooking healthier for my family, and I am more active with my kids than ever before. Even though my husband has not joined yet due to his unpredictable work schedule, he can’t help but join me when I take the kids outside for a walk and to play. I am so thankful to G7 for the fun workouts they put together for us and their insistence on healthy eating. Through both primal eating and exercise I have been able to accomplish so much and I feel great!!!
To me, G7 is not a gym but a family. I am so grateful to God for having blessed me with another wonderful and caring family – the G7 family. Thank you guys!
“When we wake up in the morning, God gives us two simple choices. Go back to sleep and dream, or wake up and chase those dreams. Choice is yours…”
Louie Uribe
My name is Louie Uribe and I’m a 46 year old father of 3 beautiful children. My sons Louie Jr and David live in Pearland, Texas and my daughter, Mia, lives with me. Being a single father of an 8 year old little girl is quite a handful especially with my rotating shift schedule. So trying to find time to get fit was almost nonexistent. Feeling sorry for myself didn’t help matters either. I finally made up my mind that it was time to either put up or shut up. I realized that I had 3 very good reasons to get fit and live as healthy a life I could; my children.
Prior to going to G7, Linda Garza-Martinez had mentioned G7 to me on several occasions and encouraged me to go by. I never thought I would fit in, reason being, because I was ashamed and embarrassed of the way I looked. However, it was time to do something about it. I came to G7 Athletics in mid August 2010 in hopes to achieve what I had been struggling to do for the past 20 years; to get fit. After meeting with Roberto and hearing what he had to say, and seeing the athletes going through their warm up and ultimately the workout of the day, it convinced me that I was at the right place to achieve this goal.
The beginning was slow and disappointing for me. My inability to do some of the movements was very frustrating. However, as the workouts went by; so did my ability to do the movements I couldn’t do. I could barely do 2 pushups; I can now do them without even thinking. Pull ups, well, they were nonexistent. The last time I was able to do pull ups was 22 years ago when I was at the US Border Patrol Academy. I started with a green resistance band and could maybe manage 5 assisted pull ups. Now, I’m able to do at least 2-3 strict pull ups and as of recent was able to manage 2 kipping pull ups.
Here we are December 2010 and after 3.5 months with the G7 family, I’m able to do things that I thought I’d never be able to do again. Being part of the family has made me stronger, fit, leaner, energized, and has caused me to lose those unwanted pounds. There is even a noticeable difference in my body and a skip in my step. I never thought I’d get that look back again. Even my coworkers have noticed the difference. My mom however thinks I’m too skinny! I say to her, “Mom, you’re just so used to seeing me being BIG!”
Overall, what has G7 done for me? Aside from getting me strong, fit, and lean, it has given me the confidence I lost many years ago. But above all, G7 Athletics has given me my life back. A life that was wasting away in unhealthy living and self pity! I am so passionate about G7 Athletics, I find myself preaching to my coworkers, what it has done for me. Every time I mention my successes’, it’s hard for me not to become emotional. This is how committed I have become to being healthy and fit once again. Thank you G7 and athletes for all you have done for me and for letting me into your family!
Hilda Riojas
“After hearing about G7 Crossfit and viewing the website, I was interested but at the same time doubtful if I could actually go through the “boot camp” type workouts. I was wowed by some of the athletes pictures and wanted results like theirs so I decided to give it a try. My goal was to get toned and trim. With my crazy schedule and attending only 2x a week and with some diet modification, I saw and felt results after 3 months! I’ve lost inches around my waist, and my face and arms are thinner now. I now feel fit, fabulous, and stronger than ever, thanks G7!”
Laura Uribe
My name is Laura Uribe and I am 43 years old. I am the proud mother of two teenage boys. I first heard about G7 from my co-workers as they would talk about the WOD. I would joke with them and tell them how crazy they were. In fact, I would say “I am not joining the NFL why would I want to do that”.
My G7 story begins when I enrolled my son at G7 with the hope of preparing him for high school football. As I would sit day after day waiting for my son I realized how encouraging the trainers were. I saw how this was not just a gym but a family. I decided to enroll and take the challenge. I quickly started feeling great about myself and seeing changes in me physically. I now tell my co-workers my faith fills my spiritual needs and G7 fill my physical needs. I could barely run to the end of the parking lot. I can now run 400 meters in 1:47. I feel so accomplished after every workout that I can truly now say I feel I can accomplish anything! Many Blessings to all and Happy Holidays.”
Juan Gaona
My name is Juan M. Gaona, I’m twenty-five years old and currently working as a Pharmacy Technician at HEB. Before I started the G7 Athletics program I was overweight, unhealthy and out of shape. More importantly I had lost all my self-confidence and found myself discontent with the direction my life was heading. I then made a goal for myself to pass both the written and physical examinations needed to become a fireman. I began to workout independently at home but quickly realized that my lack of knowledge in physical conditioning would be holding me back from my ambitions. For that reason I began to look at local gyms and athletic programs but found that they weren’t the right fit for me.
As my hopes began to fade a friend spoke to me about the G7 Athletics program and how it was unlike all the other gyms. Having nothing to lose I walked into the gym that first day and witnessed the interaction between the coaches and athletes and just knew that I had found the gym for me. I have been a part of the G7 family for six months now and have lost twenty pounds, several inches and gained a family.
Through the interactive training and support of the coaching staff I can now run longer, further and faster than I ever thought I would be capable of. I know that everyday that I walk through the doors of G7 there will always be something new and more challenging to work on. In addition the environment created at G7 is an ideal one for progress and growth, not to mention there is always great music playing. G7 has given me the confidence that I was once lacking and I can now say with complete confidence that my goals are within reach. I cannot express how thankful I am to G7 for changing my life.
Queta Simpson
My name is Queta. I’m a 44-year-old mother of 3 currently celebrating 21 years of marriage this month. My husband and I have been together for over 25 years. I felt this relevant in mentioning because during all this time (and as far back as I can remember), I have been a yoyo dieter. I also exercised on and off but quickly got bored with the exercise routines. When I felt that I was at my “ideal” weight, I would allow myself to slack off on both diet and exercise. By the time I knew it, my weight had shot back up, I was feeling flabby, and once again, I had to start all over.
Since joining G7 in June 2010, I can say that I have become stronger and healthier. G7 has helped me see changes in my body that, really, I had given up on. I thought, “there was no hope for those areas.” I was wrong. (My husband has also seen these changes!!)
I love the G7 program because of the way they integrate diet and exercise and stress the importance of doing both together. They have been incredibly helpful, resourceful in both and they have always been available for me. G7 has given me an incredible amount of confidence not only to do their daily WOD’s but to actually do something I had never dreamed of completing which was to run my first 10k on Thanksgiving morning. That was a huge accomplishment for me and I was thrilled when I finished in 62.47 minutes. Thanks to G7, all the coaches, and all the other G7 participants for your support.
Veronica M. Garza
When I joined G7 Athletics a little over a year ago, the gym was just a group of family members and friends working out in a backyard. After watching my brother and sister flinging around some barbells and weights, I was convinced that the workouts they were doing were too difficult for me.
Most of my adolescent years, I was involved in physical activities like cheerleading and gymnastics, but it had been almost 10 years since then. After high school, I rarely exercised or gave any attention to my physical health, which took a toll on my body. At one point, I was almost 200 lbs and constantly in and out of doctors’ offices for a number of issues.
My senior year of high school I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, a condition of having a low platelet count. I was treated with Prednisone and gained a significant amount of weight as a side effect of the treatment. In 2004, I was diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease that frequently caused achy joints, fatigue, sun sensitivity, and issues with my kidneys.
On top of all of that, there was the fact that I was a size 14, 185lbs and very out of shape. As far as I was concerned, there was absolutely zero chance that anyone was going to pull me out to the backyard in the hot summer heat and expect me to get through a workout alive.
I have always had a fear of working out in public. I hated going to gyms because I worried that people would make fun of me if I couldn’t figure out how to use the complicated machines. Worse, I worried that they would think to themselves, “It’s a good thing she’s here. She really needs to be exercising more.” The truth is that nobody really thinks those things when you walk into a gym, but I had never found a place welcoming enough for me to feel otherwise. A year ago, I finally found that place.
After numerous attempts to convince me to join, I decided to give CrossFit a try, but I went into it with hesitation and doubt. I didn’t think I was capable of doing the intense workouts my siblings were doing, but they assured me I would be fine.
Although the workouts were testing and required a lot of effort, I was capable of completing them. My siblings helped me to start off at a level I was capable of achieving. This meant getting into a resistance band to complete pullups, doing pushups on my knees, and running shorter distances than what was prescribed. Everyone was very encouraging and I really felt like they wanted me to succeed.
On my brother’s advice, I started following a Primal diet, cutting out grains, avoiding sugar, avoiding vegetable oils and consuming plenty of meats, vegetables and animal fats. In a very short amount of time, this led to visible weight loss and an overall feeling of better health. I even started getting better in the workouts!
One day during a workout consisting of squats I realized that my knees were not hurting, which is something I was used to. I have not needed to see a doctor in over a year now, and I rarely ever deal with the symptoms I was dealing with before. I feel stronger and healthier, which is the most important thing for me. It’s an added bonus that I have lost 40 lbs. and dropped from a size 14 to asize 6 in less than a year.
Although I have a long way to go, I have come a long way. In less than 1 year, I have competed in two CrossFit competitions and tested my bravery and skill against some amazing athletes. In March 2010, I competed in the CrossFit South Texas Sectional in Austin, TX and received 21st place. In May 2010, I competed with the G7 Athletics Affiliate team at the South Central Regional in Fort Worth, TX.
Most importantly, I feel healthier, happier, fit, and more confident. Every day I am challenged with a new workout in the gym, but I know that every day I will get through it. This attitude now extends to every aspect of my life. I now realize that I am capable of achieving things that I never thought possible.
This is just my story about how G7 Athletics has positively impacted my life. Many of the athletes at our gym have experienced similar situations. I currently help run the gym and get the opportunity to be a part of the wonderful G7 Athletics community as an athlete and Business Manager. I’m happy to be in the position I am in right now where I can tell people about G7 and speak authentically on how it can improve their lives. It changed mine.

Anna M. Flores
Anna M. Flores, a local elementary school teacher, joined G7 Athletics in December of 2009 after hearing about G7 classes from a friend. She wasn’t sure what to expect, but she was eager to try something new. Anna wasn’t new to rigorous exercise. A former high school Cross Country runner and longtime gym member, Anna considered herself an athlete and in great shape. Her workout regimen consisted of doing two body pump and body combat classes back-to-back and then running three miles on the treadmill. Despite this intense exercise three-to-four times per week, she continued to have issues with particular areas of her body, and her friends and family constantly told her she looked unhealthy and was just too thin.
After completing her first week of classes at G7 Athletics, Anna was hooked. She was amazed at the intensity of the workouts and she was learning new movements and skills everyday. She was especially impressed with the personal attention and motivation she received from the G7 Athletics coaching staff. Not only did they take the time to properly teach her each exercise but also shared with her information about diet and nutrition. And when her hamstring began to bother her, the G7 coaches modified the exercises so that she would still get a great workout.
Just a month into her membership at G7, Anna began to notice a difference in her body. Her shoulders and legs had more definition, she lost a significant number of inches around her waist and people began to comment on how great she looked. She was seeing results that she had never seen in 15 years of consistent exercising.
Five months later, Anna is a new and improved person. Physically, she looks healthier and her clothes fit better. She is stronger, more energetic and has more running endurance. She can now complete unassisted pull-ups and ring pushups, skills that she could never before execute. With the help of her G7 community, Anna has adopted a positive outlook on life and feels like she can take on any task or conquer any challenge.
Anna has accomplished many personal goals while a member of G7 Athletics but she continues to take strides to achieve an even healthier lifestyle. One of her more immediate goals is to incorporate the G7 nutritional recommendations into her daily diet. She will also be a participant in the Get Grok challenge. In the future, she hopes to continue running marathons and possibly compete in CrossFit competitions.
Anna has seen great personal results as well as positive changes in the members of the G7 community. She wants to share her experience with others, so much so that she convinced her sister, America Flores and several friends to join the program. Anna describes the G7 Athletics program as more than just a gym. She says it is a facility that offers a higher level of fitness that conditions both body and mind.
UPDATE
“It’s been about a year that I’ve been an active member of G7 Athletics. A year I consider to be the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. Since I’ve joined, I’ve seen many significant results. I’m stronger, fitter, and so motivated.
My gym has enabled me to achieve many milestones I never thought could happen. To mention a few; running long distance has never felt so easy. My endurance has increased tremendously. In just one year, my pace went from a 10 to an 8:30 minute mile pace. The program offered has allowed much progress without having to run many miles outside. Doing what I thought was impossible-8 dead hang pull-ups in a row, has now become so very possible.
G7 has developed my confidence, that not only can I do more, but I can do it well. I receive the maximum benefit from every workout I do-whether cardio or strength and I am no longer intimidated by any kind of exercise. I feel great and stress is more easily managed. My perspective on life has changed. I now believe that exercising and eating the right foods should no longer be an option but rather a way of living.
Thank you G7 for being so extraordinary in the many roles and lives you take part in. You truly are my inspiration and supplement to being great at everything I do. My love for you is unconditional.”

Maricela Quintanilla
When Maricela Quintanilla joined G7 Athletics in November of 2009, she hadn’t exercised in over a year. A rising cholesterol level left Maricela feeling sluggish and she had grown dissatisfied with her body. While looking for an exercise or fitness program that would help her lead a healthier lifestyle, she spoke to a co-worker who had already experienced personal success at G7 Athletics. She decided to join G7 Athletics hoping to obtain similar results.
Maricela, who had previously participated in spin classes and circuit training, wasn’t sure what to expect from the G7 Athletics program. After just a few short weeks of G7 training, she experienced real results. Maricela never considered herself an athlete but each time she completed a rigorous G7 workout, she noticed increased levels of endurance, strength and stamina. After seeing these immediate results, her daughter, Monica Gonzalez, became interested in the G7 Athletics program and began working out with her mother in January 2010. Both athletes participated in the Primal Challenge, applying the G7 philosophy not only to exercise but diet as well.
Six months later, Maricela describes the drastic change she has seen in her body and especially overall health. She lost weight and several inches around her waist, her energy level skyrocketed and she no longer feels tired during the day. Most importantly, her example has helped her entire family obtain a healthier lifestyle. Her husband, Albert Quintanilla was so impressed with his wife’s results, that he joined G7 in April 2010.
Maricela continues to get stronger everyday. She enjoys her G7 workouts, and has made lasting friendships in the G7 community. She especially appreciates the personal attention she receives from the G7 coaches and motivation she gets from the entire G7 family. She feels empowered and now knows that if she really sets her mind to something, it will be accomplished.
UPDATE
My name is Maricela Quintanilla; I am a 45-year-old mother of two beautiful daughters (ages 23 & 15). I have been a member of the G7 community for a year. When I started G7, I was struggling with high cholesterol levels, weight gain and low energy levels. Aside from the health issues, my self-confidence was being affected. I had never had a weight problem before and in recent years, age, eating habits, as well as other female issues had slowed my metabolism down.
Last year after my birthday, I decided I needed to start exercising again. I had not exercised in about a year but felt that exercise would be the answer to my problems. So my search for an exercise program and a gym began. During that time, I received an email from a co-worker about an exercise program she was doing. I noticed the positive changes she was going through and decided to check it out for myself.
The G7 workouts were very different than anything I had ever done in my life. But, the support I received from all the G7 coaches, as well as other G7 members have helped to transform me into a G7 strong athlete. I went from a person that had never lifted free weights, never doing a strict push up, much less a pull up to accomplishing all of that and more. Now I am ecstatic to say I have lost some weight and inches and feel more toned and fit than I have ever been in my life. I am now wearing a size 4 (even some 2s)! I had not been that size since I was in my twenties! So needless to say G7 has been my fountain of youth!

Not only has G7 transformed my life, but my husband and daughters have also become part of the G7 family and community. It has been a wonderful experience exercising along with them. G7 has empowered us with knowledge about proper eating, strength, and mostly wonderful friendships and relationships.
