All my life, I had never had to battle with bulges and weight. I had five children and each time my body would shrink back into shape, sometimes weighing less than before the pregnancies. Then, a year ago, my body starting betraying me. I started shifting body weight, bulges appeared where none had been before, I was going through menopause. For the first time ever, my clothes no longer fit! It was devastating. I had been walking/jogging for several years so I began to kick it up several notches but to no avail. I continued to gain and it was affecting me physically and emotionally!

Fortunately, I talked about my health issue with my daughter, who is CrossFit certified, and she asked if I wanted her to start exercise training with me. I agreed but with a multitude of restrictions, not outside, no one else could watch, etc. We began a program two and a half months ago. Now, I am amazed at what I am able to accomplish. I can jog a mile if prodded, do pushups, squats, sit-ups, dead-lifts, etc. I now work out outside. I work out in a group with no inhibitions or embarrassment. It is not embarrassing to finish last, in fact it is usually the last person who gets the most cheers, although at times I have finished first! Physically and emotionally I feel great. I have gone down two pant sizes and feel so much better. I had developed a bulge above my jeans and now that has minimized substantially. I am back to my fitted tees and blouses.

Although, the physical changes are extraordinary and beneficial to my health the biggest change is the burst of pride I feel each day as I work out with my family. All of us are CrossFitting. Three months ago I would have never, ever imagined I would be working out with my sons, daughters, and grandchildren. It is amazing. CrossFit has changed me, my life, and my family. We are closer, fitter and happier!
